June 19, 2024 Santa Fe Dog Park has a new safety barrier!
The Dog Park Project is thrilled to announce a significant improvement project in collaboration with the City of Santa Fe Parks Department. On June 19, 2024, a day-long improvement project occurred, constructing a new timber barrier to separate the parking lots from the dog park. The new barrier initiative will significantly enhance safety by keeping vehicles out of the park and ensuring a clear separation between the parking areas and the park.

The community and local businesses have generously sponsored this initiative by donating and discounting tools and materials. November 2023 Atypical Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease
Like many of you, we are trying to sort out the implications for our dogs of a mysterious illness called Atypical Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease. Hundreds of cases have been reported since August in several U.S. states.

Symptoms of this disease mimic those of an upper respiratory infection and include lethargy, coughing, sneezing, and discharge from the eyes and/or nose. Diagnostic tests for common respiratory diseases are not registering this illness, and it has shown to be resistant to standard treatments, according to Dr. Ryan Scholtz, an Oregon State Veterinarian who has been studying the disease.

While fatalities are rare, dog owners should take precautions until more is understood about the illness and treatment is available.

• Be sure your dogs are up-to-date on all vaccines including
• Bordetella, Parainfluenza, Canine Influenza
• Keep sick dogs at home and seek veterinary care
• Avoid great numbers of dogs to minimize exposure
• Avoid communal water bowls
